Reggie Feldman Education Trust.

Introduction

The tapestry of South African society is characterized by strands of poverty and inequality that still make life an uphill battle for those who lack the resources for both day-to-day survival and for securing a better future for themselves.

It is this context that all efforts to alleviate the plight of people locked into this struggle for survival becomes essential if we are to build a society in which all citizens have the opportunity to realize their full potential. One of the undisputed vehicles for achieving this is providing education for young people in society. Various forms of educational opportunities exist. Unfortunately, these pathways to development and learning remain closed to those in our society who do not have the means to access them.

The idea of setting up an Education Trust is rooted in a deep sense of respect for the educators in society that make the educational experience a meaningful one for learners despite the conditions under which they teach.

This symbiotic relationship between teaching and learning frames the concept and the intended role of the Reggie Feldman Education Trust.
